Sony Ericsson Unveils The Xperia Play, PlayStation Phone

The PlayStation Phone is now very real, and it is called Xperia Play.

Xperia Play is primarily a smartphone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, has a capacitive touchscreen and a sliding plate type joystick with pads that are usually found on a PSP, plus a touch-sensitive area, which makes interaction possible (a flick on the surface allows for switching views in driving).

Xperia Play has some powerful features, beginning with a Qualcomm processor running at 1 GHz, a screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 512 RAM, a front video-camera sensor and a 5MP camera with autofocus and flash, graphics chip Adreno 205, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and HSPA + (3G +) compatibility, and a compass, accelerometer, a GPS chip and a FM tuner.

A Smartphone for Gamers?

It may well be. It has a sleek interface and a gorgeous screen display. Play Xperia goes on sale next March, starting with the USA.
